Some excellent choices!!! (Especially Kelis, Chris Isaak, and The Sugarcubes!) Though you missed the first three of Bjork's solo albums (all of which are perfect), Tori Amos' "From the Choirgirl Hotel", "Temperamental" by Everything But the Girl, and Hole's "Live Through This" -- IMHO the best rock album of the 90s. But there's lots of great stuff on here!
the Bjork albums and Hole were definitely things that got mentioned a lot on bluesky, so not on my list...not sure about the other ones...I like Hole, but am not a huge Tori Amos fan and don't think I've really heard Everything But the Girl...
You should do yourself a favor and check out "Temperamental". It's one of my favorite albums. A shimmering, gorgeously produced House and Trip Hop record with deep, melancholic lyrics and Tracey Thorn's rich, soulful, mesmerizing voice.
No 10,000 Maniacs? Shawn Colvin? Annie Lennox? Seal? (Seal's first album is on my "Five albums to take to a desert island list.) REM's "Automatic For the People"?

no, not really big fans of any of those!
Quel horror! 😂
I haven’t heard many of these albums, but I had a blast reading your descriptions. I think there might be a poem in there somewhere.
