Yes, and as always, thank you. Particularly appreciate you bringing sex work into the conversation btw.

Retail and service industry work is abundant and low-paying, generally looked down upon work. But why? Is this work useless? Unnecessary? Do you need a human to make your latte? Keep your store clean or stocked? Make and deliver your food? And if you do, does that human’s happiness in their work affect your choice of patronage, and your own happiness with the choice? Uh fucking duh

Capitalism and our systemic isms have made ours a very confused, unhappy and disconnected culture. Our priorities are fucked.

Workers need support, and if unions aren't there or aren't working, it's up to us, the rest of the population. I was never a member of a union having chosen Accounting as my vocation and with the "white collar" job, it was never available to me. But had things been slightly different, I would have been jumping at the chance to be a member of a bargaining group of one sort or another. I support workers even though at age 73, I no longer work. I preferentially shop at a grocery which is unionized even though it may cost me a penny or three more on an item. It's a small price to pay knowing that grocery store worker may still rely on SNAP but to a much lesser extent. Capitalism works best when capital and labor are in a nice balance.
