At a talk last night in Basel, Adrian Daub said that one lesson of Weiss’s failure at CBS is that there aren’t enough billionaires to get good ratings if all you do is say what billionaires want to hear.

Can’t wait to see her exit. I don’t watch any of that, so it doesn’t affect me. I just like to see people get what they’ve earned. She’s truly a POS.

CBS just recently shuttered its radio news department after almost 100 years in business. Am I supposed to blame that on her, too?

Probably—or more likely Larry and David Ellison who think "Radio's old hat, man! The IntarWebz is where it's at!"

At this point, it's going to be NPR and Right Wing Hate Radio....

I can understand because they had been limited to top-of-the-hour newscasts for a while, no Murrow stuff anymore. But it's really going to leave the talk radio stations they own in the lurch...

I'm just glad the Canadian government still thinks CBC Radio is viable.

The difference between Government Sponsorship and Private Enterprise—Private Enterprise feeds on profits, while Government Sponsorship is considered part of what a healthy government has.

Which is why government sponsorship is better- or at least the lesser of two evils.

Neither Private Enterprise nor Government Sponsorship is perfect—look at how the BBC is flailing lately, seen as a lackey of His Majesty's Government. There was always the fear NPR would become that, the Government's cheerleader rather than its gadfly.

The best part of NPR is how DESPERATELY the Right Wing wants to get rid of it! That's a sign it's doing its job.... 😇

I believe neither on its own works right—we need Private Radio to keep an eye on Government Sponsorship, and Government Sponsorship to keep an eye on Privatization.

"Ellison very likely believes that someone could make a killing from a Fox MAGA clone. Maybe he’ll try to poach a producer from Fox or bring in some other right-wing figure with more of a pretense to competence."

Well, he's re-hired Max Landis and Brett Ratner—how about one of them? 😂
