Highly recommend. Tom Perrotta served as co-producer so it's honest to the book I think; I came to the TV show first, so maybe there's some nuances to be critical of. First season is a pretty 1:1 recreation but the last two seasons expand into much different directions.
I don't watch enough movies to have a credible "best" list but here are 5 documentaries that I would (and do) recommend (all very well crafted, in my opinion):
1) How To Survive A Plague (2012)
2) The Heart Of The Game (2005)
3) Linda Ronstadt: The Sound Of My Voice (2019) -- not as well crafted but a wealth of great material to work with)
4) Summer Of Soul (2021)
5) Every Little Step (2008) -- I'm not sure why this resonated with me so much; I'm not a big theater person, but it worked).
I’m not sure it’s a joke. I think it relates to the first scene in which Waltz’ character says something like “I am the best at catching Jews because I can think like a rat.” But he was shocked that the Americans would kill his driver and carve him up, which means he could not at all think like an American.
oh, well, the joke is that the last line of the film is "I think it's my masterpiece", which refers to the swastika carved into the Nazi's forehead, but also to the film itself.
Best movies of the last 25 years:
1. Aftersun
2. The Big Lebowski
3. Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind
4. The Lives of Others
5. Drive My Car
Oh and TV shows:

3. Mad Men

My 5 favorite TV shows would probably go...

2. The Wire.
3. Better Call Saul.
4. Mr. Robot. (Parts of it get weird, but it really is a lot of fun)
5. Hannibal.
I really liked the novel the Leftovers, but haven't seen the show...

Summer of Soul is great!
I love "Listening to Kenny G", also; it's really wortwhile if you like music docs.
I wanted to see that. Thanks for the reminder.
I would also add _Facing Ali_, -- I don't follow boxing, but such a wonderfully humanizing movie.
Nobody wrote about the irony of the last scene of Inglorious Bastards… (I’m not sure irony is right word however.)
It’s a joke, but I do think it’s a masterpiece too...
