Your clarity about the brutal political conditions we live in/under provokes in me the main question facing this society today, and one which i find more and more incredible: Why are we letting this happen, letting this go on?

the two big reasons are a lot of people like fascism, and partisanship is a powerful force.

People claim I am too critical of the Democratic Party, but I strongly believe we need a fundamentally different party than the one that currently exists to effectively counter the new fascist-friendly GOP.

I do think 2028 Dems like Beshear, Pritzer, and definitely Shapiro should show a willingness to make the major changes you prescribe. Right now, Newsom is the only one I’d imagine doing so but I also don’t trust him as far as the closest door. There must be a better option.

Pritzker’s been good in talking about accountability, and he’s been aggressive in passing legislation at the state level…I don’t trust Newsom at all.

An excellent analysis. The clarity of “Trump did not create this nightmare” stands out. That’s a truth legacy media refuse to learn.

More damage has been done than I think people can understand. Both parties are broken but in different ways that when combined exacerbate each other. I think many voters believe the dismantling of the federal government is something much simpler to repair than it is. It was far from perfect but once gone it may be impossible to replace. The politics necessary to revreate or repair everything destroyed doesn't exist.
