I was at a gallery opening at the Country Music Hall of Fame two weeks ago for Wayne White (PeeWee's Playhouse, Beakman's World) and one of his paintings uses the Louvin Brothers from that exact album cover. A friend who used to work in the archives was talking about finding photos and stuff from the making of the image and they used maquettes of them to set up the photograph. Did not expect to see it again so soon! Wayne has a pic of the painting on his Instagram.
They actually designed and staged the cover of "Satan Is Real" themselves, which is why it looks slightly amateurish. But that's also part of its charm.
