The woman whose story BILB is loosely based on is now an artist who lives in Basel (where I live). — What did you think of Chadha’s “Blinded by the Light”?
“Blinded by the Light” is quite similar to BILB: a teenager (this time a boy) from a South Asian background (Pakistani instead of Punjabi) gets involved in activities that his parents disapprove of (this time being a fan of Bruce Springsteen). It’s really well done (I especially like the handling of the projection of Springsteen lyrics on the screen), and loosely based on a memoir by British journalist and Springsteen fan Sarfaz Manzoor.
This is still my favorite Keira Knightley movie

!!! I did not know it was based on a real person!
I don’t think I’ve seen blinded by the light…
