When I saw that quip from klobuchar I just about went nuclear.
I'm Minnesotan. Unlike the future governor we're going to be foisted with, I actually care that Trump's brownshirts were assaulting, kidnapping, and MURDERING people here in broad daylight three fucking months ago.
I'd say I'm surprised that democratic leadership hasn't comprehended why the party is so widely loathed by their own constituents, but, well, I also know the sheer contempt that same leadership holds for us.
An outstanding and very necessary piece. This is the truth about our present situation with electoral politics. We are in the midst of an insurrection with its roots in the "peculiar institution", and those who have never given up the fight to assert and maintain white supremacist control over the nation.
Agree with Lucius regarding Senator Klobuchar. It is past time to pull out all of the stops, and meet the anti-democratic and blatantly racist actions churning in the wake of the latest outrage perpetrated by the Roberts court.
I moved into my townhouse in the Houston area in 2020 & I have voted on 3 different Congressional districts, with TX-18 having no representation for half the time I’ve been here. I am frustrated with myself for not ever studying Spanish. And I am separating from fellow organizers who are remaining in TX-18 & trying to make connections in TX-29. I can’t vote harder, only try to organize harder but with a new team. Sigh
Perfectly stated. And not for nothing, people were furious that Kamala Harris campaigned with Liz Cheney. But you know what? Cheney may have been an imperfect messenger, but her anti-fascist message was absolutely the right way to go. We will never be able to fix what's wrong with America until the fascists are gone.
Cheney wasn't an anti fascist though, and it was obvious to anyone who cared to look
Her voting record speaks for itself.
Everything she did, she did in the name of optics and angling for a future presidential run. She's like Marjorie Taylor Green, a rat temporarily fleeing a sinking ship and betting on Democrats being credulous and too quick to forgive. Which is an unfortunately solid bet.
Campaigning with a Republican was a middle finger to the Democratic base. Another instance of Democrats chasing the entirely mythical undecided "moderate" voters that only exist in the beltway's fever dreams.
The Republican party needs to be eradicated, not worked with. It never ends well.
Cheney knew pretty well that her stance would destroy her career, certainly by the time she was campaigning with Harris.
It wasn't a middle finger to the base. Cheney asked for zero policy concessions. In fact, she flipped to support Harris on abortion rights, arguing that people should vote D because R abortion policies had failed.
You don't have to like Cheney, but she does seem to have decided that the most important thing was beating trump, and abandoned every single other policy issue on that basis. She did not campaign as a republican, but as a former republican. The left getting mad about that was really foolish, imo. She offered an endorsement and got nothing in return. That's the best way to try to win over voters who see themselves as centrists, imo. There was nothing wrong with Harris campaigning with her; it was a reasonable strategy with no real downside. this is one thing eradicating the gop would look like; former republicans abandoning their party and becoming democrats for all intents and purposes (and a republican who endorses Ds on abortion is effectively no longer a republican.)
MTG is pretty different. She continues to push violent anti trans policies and other white nationalist garbage. She has not endorsed Democrats; she didn't use her position in the House to oppose trump. instead she resigned so she could be a talking head.

I’m a Democratic Precinct chair with mobility issues. I’m on bluesky as @DemoCraftHTX
