Certainly there is no electoral reason to throw trans people under the bus, and even if there was, it would still be wrong. But candidates do need to be able to handle anti-trans attacks disguised as questions without becoming tongue tied. The correct answer is something along the lines of “Yea, so what? I’m working to improve the lives of all Americans who aren’t billionaires.” This can sometimes be followed with, “Why are you so hung up on other peoples’ personal life?”
Well, THOSE Dems' way of handling transphobia is to be transphobic themselves, and more subtly homophobic, misogynistic and racist. In other words, they'll be Hillary Rodham Clinton redux—who I KNOW is planning a comeback.
