"This weekend ICE invaded Columbia student dorms and seized pro Palestinian activist and protestor Mahmoud Kahlil while his pregnant wife, an American citizen, watched helplessly."
This is not unlike the similar scenario at the heart of Ray Bradbury's story "I See You Never", which I presume the ICE people never read...
Thanks for the word on ADL--I hadn't heard this particular twisted take of theirs. I hope that Khalil both beats this abominable treatment AND sues the hell out of the ADL for slander. That statement looks like it would meet the NYT v Sullivan test.
Punishing someone for his First Amendment Rights is bad enough. To do it without any actual evidence is pretty much the end of the whole IDEA of the rule of law.
It’s probably time for us to pay attention to the public relation strategies Republicans use over and over.
1
Be the first voice to frame a person or event in the news. First impressions are lasting impressions.
2
Multiple negative denigrations of events or people they disapprove of, and the truth is of no concern. Pile on every source of fear disgust they can think of.
Third is repetition. Repetition is the key to advertising, and the right wing echo chamber receive so much funding for this reason.
currently the main problem with messaging is that the democrats don't really seem to want anyone to believe there's a real problem in the country. they seem weak, divided, confused, and ineffectual. it's hard to message when you're weak, divided, confused and ineffectual.
There's probably not, unfortunately, a legal basis to go after the ADL for the false advertising embedded in their name. But we could certainly start referring to them as the "Pro-Defamation League."

This piece is excellent!

Other observations of strategies?
Thanks again

Apologies for the editing. New cell phone seems to have a mind of its own.
I tipped over to paid after the last few posts. Keep it up!
thank you!

The subreddit itself has been taken over by "blue maga" and celebrating Trump's Gaza policies as LAMF since his win. It's been really gross to watch.
