Very well explained. I had heard before about how Blacks were not killed enmass until after the Civil War when they could no longer serve as a legal source of wealth through free labor.
As far as movies helping us along, I can only reference Robert Redford‘s radio interview some time ago in which he said that he had expected movies to be a force for social change, and had finally concluded that they were not.
