When I was a subscriber to NYTIMES, I read Douthout and Thiesen just to make/read the withering comments from other subscribers. Then I found out that clicking on their pieces was just affirming that they were being read, a plus for them. So I stayed with Michelle Goldberg and Jamal Bouie, who I miss.
As I read Douthat’s column about his search for the good guys in today’s world, I was struck by the American who wasn’t there. The one who is anti-abortion, supports individual rights, and wants to protect people from AI and corporate power. Overlooking Pope Leo says a lot about where Ross’s real loyalties lie.

Trump obviously gets the gold medal for "white guy with terminal dunning kreuger who failed upward", but douthat has to be a contender for silver.
