I've always thought Steve Harvey is one of the more ginormous dicks currently occupying planet Earth. (Note: IS not HAS) I won't watch anything with him or read anything by him. I can't understand how he gets so many gigs when he's been so outspoken about his sexism, homophobia, and militant Christianity.
I cringe when I see this kind of thing. There are the obvious reasons, of course. But, also, when I was dating in the 80’s I and the women I knew did not want this kind of man and there were other kinds of men even then. During the years we were raising children, beginning in 1994, my children did not envy the families that included the man that Harvey describes.
Has there been no progress at all? When I hear women discuss dating it seems like the misogyny and self-centeredness of men is possibly more open and worse than it was 40 years ago.
I don't even know that harvey is accurately describing a kind of man? among other things, by claiming it's all just natural, he downplays the way that people choose to be misogynist assholes.
Nonsense like this gives young men permission to never evolve. It reeks of entitlement and the demand that women conform to men’s needs, wants and desires instead of having any themselves.
I could have done without knowing this about Steve Harvey. The main thing I know him for is as a host of Family Feud, which is a thing I watch when my brain can't handle anything more demanding. Mainly I am mesmerized by his clothes. He has the most gorgeous and well-tailored suits I've ever seen.
Sorry, but I agree with Steve Harvey. In my 70 years of experience, this has been true for 90% of the men I’ve encountered. Maybe culture has changed? Looking at what’s going on in the world today......I doubt it.

I mean, the president of the US is who the president of the US is; clearly vile bigotry is no barrier to success in this country.
You are absolutely correct! What was I thinking??

The title alone pretty much told me everything I thought this book would be about, and now you've confirmed it.
“bleak, bland bargain”. Brilliant!

Patriarchy and misogyny is a thing…but there’s a wide range of men. Some are not straight, just for starters.
