Seems to me WE could follow trump with the MAGATS in our lives, and just keep telling them that the election has to be rigged, so why vote? We could pretend to be talking about the GOP doing the rigging and pointing out that WE don't see any reason to vote in that case. And then, of course, go out and vote.
What happens after Trump, if Trump miraculously loses and doesn't successfully pull off a coup? We are going to have a MUCH larger white supremacist political movement in America. We're really facing a horrible battle no matter what happens. And I currently do not see powerful people who are not fascists using their power to address it sufficiently. I truly don't think they grasp the danger in a vivid enough way. And they've known about it for awhile.
That's where I am too. And I generally tend toward pessimism! I think so much of this movement is so specifically invested in the iconography of Trump that once he's out of the picture, the whole thing deflates. My instincts tell me that fascist movements like this have a momentum and a narrative arc. as part of a fascist movement You make your play for the brass ring and you either get it or you don't, but if you miss the ring, then that movement goes back into a kind of submission... The arc has played out. And then of course there is the momentum on our side that has been increasing in order to counter this fascist movement, and that momentum has a lot more oomph left in it than the Maga momentum does. I just get the feeling that we are ascendant and MAGA is on the decline.
They keep on. And Trump showed them ways they can take over. So I would prefer it if people in government would change the system to make this more difficult if that’s OK with you. I do think the government is there to protect our rights.
Well, if he loses though, he'll have shown them they can't take over, which I think will take the wind out of their sails.
I would like a system less open to white supremacy, for sure. The government is...sometimes willing to protect certain people's rights. It's always a battle though.
I have not observed anything in the history of the last 75 years that makes me confident the wind gets taken out of their sails by election loss in any meaningful way. In the long trajectory from Jim Crow to George Wallace winning the South to the John Birch society to Pat Buchanan to MAGA —with detours in Oklahoma City—they appear very adept at managing the various lulls in favorable winds, coming back stronger every time.
That being said, they do go into a kind of submission state. Back into a sleeper cell modality in order to lick their wounds and regroup. If we are lucky enough to win in November, the overall project needs to be to take out the trash all the way. Dismantling the federalist society, the heritage foundation, project 2025. and I don't think that we can count on our elected officials to do much on that front. That's going to be more of a peoples movement kind of thing. Exposing, doxxing. Letting them know that we know who they are and where they live effectively.
" , , , since election day votes are often counted first, he could bank a bunch of early votes from Republicans if they all voted in person. That could buttress his claims that the election was stolen and provide him with fuel for a coup attempt."
Roger Stone said, before the election, that that was EXACTLY his plan.

I think that Trump losing would be a major blow to the white supremacist movement, fwiw.

Nicely and thoroughly explained.
Thanks.

Roger Stone's a scary guy. But also a fool.
Fools can do a lot of damage in a society without a functioning justice system that upholds the law and democracy.
"When you tell voters that elections are rigged, you’re telling them that their votes don’t matter. If the fix is in, why vote?"
And everybody knows that voting booths use G5 frequencies to implant radiometric tracking in your brain so democrats can track you.
Spread the word
Why am I getting this article so late that it was written when Biden was still the presumptive candidate? ('good news for Biden')
I take the point and it's valuable, but the anachronism was jarring.
I restacked with a note that I was doing so because trump is once again saying he wants to eliminate voting.
I guess it’s possible there was a glitch and the email didn’t include the note up top…?
Thanks for your reply, and I understand.
Yes, I didn't see any note on the e-mail.
weird. I still don’t entirely understand substack…
I don’t think I’ll survive another tRump presidency. Our democracy definitely won’t.
"(See) even elections they win—as an affront. Elections suggest that Trump is responsible to, and subordinate to, voters"
Damn.
That's it isn't it?
Mind blown... i've never considered that.
