This is absolutely 💯 the tact to take! It's what an opposition party (OPPOSITION PARTY 👊👊👊‼️) is supposed to be, if that opposition is determined to oust this horrific regime. To act like we can't do "several" things at once is insulting and shameful! Hinging it on getting elected alone; totally weak-assed and repugnant 😤
That was well said. Politicians can compromise to get things done, but we should never back away from our principles. I hope Chuck and Gavin are relegated to the heap of Vichy trash.
I agree with all of this, but I have to wonder, do we really think the Democratic party even wants to defeat fascism and save democracy? I doubt they're actually as principled as all that. I think the Democratic party is where resistance goes to die. It would be more helpful, imo, for folks who are fed up with the system to abandon party politics and focus our energy instead on building local counterpower.
Any administration can be moved with enough people in the streets, with the support we need to stay there until things change. I'm thinking of the burning of the third precinct in Minneapolis, and the combination of spontaneity and structural support that facilitated that action. Democratic leadership was squarely on the wrong side of the George Floyd movement, as expected.
Instead of electoral politics, we can advance an anti-politics that doesn't rely on any politicians, and doesn't need any institutional approval to make the changes we want to see.
I get the frustration with the Democrats, but I think we’re seeing right now just how dangerous it is to abandon electoral politics.
Electoral politics isnt’ everything, but losing elections to fascists can be, and is currently, catastrophic. protests are important, but they work better if you have an electoral component of resistance as well.

I’ve known this for a while, but could never express it as well as you have. Thank you.
I completely agree with S. Travis!
If you want to shock your opponent go after their strengths. Once you reduce that, the weaknesses are easier to magnify.
