Uncharacteristically optimistic, Noah! While I don’t have faith that corruption and concentration camps for brown people will matter enough to voters, I hold hope that they’ll be disgusted enough by the brutality to children to either make them stay at home or come out in force to vote. But I’m a naturally optimistic person.

I hadn’t considered that, because of retirements, cancelling elections would hand Democrats the

House. Perhaps we can set aside that worry. OTOH, no one should underestimate Trump’s stupidity; maybe he’ll gin up a “national emergency,” cancel

elections and wake up to

Speaker Jeffries sending an impeachment bill to the floor.

This was nice to read today. I can’t get away from the thought that we are fucked and the future for those of us living in the US right now is totally fucked, but this was nice. Thank you

Agreed, mostly, that we might GET fucked.

My blue state is not caving and there are bunch of us.

Don't give in to them.

And yes, thank you Noah.

Hey Noah! despite being slightly upbeat this time, you are still one of my favorite writers. My mother made a keen observation the other day when I complained that all infrastructure was being poured into building either data centers or detention centers. She said at least we'll have a place to stay! She does not relish the idea of living under a bridge. It's one way to rehome the unhoused.

However, your point is well taken. People are at the end of their rope with Trump and his fascist administration. I just hope they use the rope to hang the right people.

ICE detention centers are squallid death holes. I'd take my chances under a bridge.

I'm with you, under a bridge that is!

Great analysis! I also think that the red states were already gerrymandered so badly that it's hard for the GOP to squeeze out a few more seats without making current GOP seats much riskier, even without Trump's current historic unpopularity, whereas blue state maps were by and large more neutral and afford a lot more opportunity for a partisan gerrymandering redesign to pick up a bunch of seats.

Here's an interesting theory on why Putin's gal Tulsi DNI might have been personally involved in the Georgia seizure of voting records.
