According to Max Weber, a defining characteristic of the modern nation-state is “the monopoly of the legitimate means of violence.” Lawless, violent actions by the Trump regime against adversaries are neither legitimate nor modern. Rather, they harken back to patrimonial and autocratic forms of government. To wit: the state exists to benefit the Leader who has all power to smite his enemies and enrich his family & friends. Folks, what we got here is illegitimate, lawless, corrupt, and exploitative so-called government. It is bad bad bad. Horrible, you might say.
