TheracistRUMP is not an aberration; rather, he is the CULMINATION of the republiKKKon party since LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act n the Voting Rights Act and the Immigration Act. LBJ by doing so, forced the dixie crats to become republicans and the republicans to become republiKKKons! LBJ WAS THE LAST DEMOCRAT TO GET THE WHITE MAJORITY VOTE.
I think my closest approach to conspiracy theory is my notion that many party-powerful Republicans fell under Ruscist extortionate influence during the era when Putin's agents were most active in the NRA. In this scenario, mandated support for DJT is an additional driver of unjustified loyalty to the Big Cheetoh.
Or the other option is that they are holding the line because they are being paid to do so by dark money interests tied to foreign governments. Yes, that sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, but we already know the NRA was infiltrated by Russian assets, and AIPAC is still a huge GOP supporter. Plus, with Trump manipulating the stock market, they are no doubt cashing in with insider information. So I think they are just riding it out as long as they can, knowing it’s unlikely the law will catch up with them in our current captured state. So they stick by him. It’s illegal, it’s reprehensible. But I don’t see them getting stopped in any meaningful way, so they are gambling on the authoritarians staying in power.
This situation is not unlike the situation with the opposition Conservative Party in Canada- they want to maintain a united front to look better than they are and assist their leader in looking like a good government choice even when he's a complete tool. However, unlike in Congress, Canadian MPs are allowed to "cross the floor" and leave their old party's caucus to sit with another party (e.g. the government) or sit as an independent with no party affiliation. Just recently a couple of Conservative MPs (and one former member of the leftist NDP) have switched alliance to the governing Liberal Party, which, of course, makes the Conservative leader look bad....

My theory is that they're all having too much fun to ever consider changing. It's a party of sadistic theocrats after all.
