DHS needs to go. If we need a CPB, and we probably do, they should stay at the border. All government employees that carry weapons should understand our constitution and take an oath to protect it. It won’t end fascism, but we need as many speed bumps as we can put in their path.

My husband and I live in a blue city on the west coast, a sanctuary city, and all of our immediate neighbors are immigrants. We also have several gay/lesbian close neighbors. It’s terrifying to imagine ICE rolling up.

Naomi Klein once observed, “impunity breeds a kind of delusional decadence.“

Yeah.

I live near Minneapolis. The feeling I get here is that the publicity and backlash from Good and Pretti's executions acted like a release valve and eased a tiny bit of tension, but it's already building again.

Before the second murder it really felt like we were on our own out here with no help from DC (honestly I still don't think democratic leadership has done nearly enough, and Schumer is a perpetual quisling disappointment as always). Seeing more backlash coming out of DC helped morale a bit, but it's fizzling out quick.

ICE agents are going to be split between giggling merrily that they've been given further license for bloodlust and pouting that anyone would dare to think about chastising them in any way, so their behavior is only going to get worse.

My guess is that they (and Stephen Miller) want to keep ratcheting up the pressure until someone shoots back at them. Then the insurrection act is invoked and ICE goes weapons free...

And now they're on their way to terrorize Haitian immigrants in Ohio.

For Republicans, a thousand murders probably isn't enough. But how many is it going to take for Democratic politicians to realize that ICE needs to be dismantled and prosecuted?

Aren't the people who want to get rid of ICE the same people who wanted to "defund" the police a few years ago? Look where that got them...

I mean, I support defunding the police and abolishing ICE. but there’s a lot more support for abolishing ice than there ever was for police abolition. there are polls that show abolishing ice with majority support right now; one poll had it +12 with independent.

Stephen Robinson makes a good case for it here: https://www.publicnotice.co/p/abolish-ice-minnesota

MPD at its very worst has never been so hated as ICE is now, it's not close
