Conspiracy does seem to carry a paycheck, however.
You can see Epstien‘s quotes in the few files released so far.
He occasionally addresses some rich powerful person like Ehud Barak, pointing out what a wonderful cash opportunity there is in all the destructive wars going on in the world.
That made me wonder if the sex abuse was more of Epstein’s side hustle to get compromising videos of powerful people when they would visit his island or his New York mansion.
I think he just liked abusing people, probably. And there wasn’t. Lot conspiratorial about it, because lots of people knew and just didn’t see anything wrong with abusing children.
"That made me wonder if the sex abuse was more of Epstein’s side hustle to get compromising videos of powerful people when they would visit his island or his New York mansion."
Or like his way of getting his 🤮 "avocation" to pay for itself? "Since I'm ALREADY a wealthy stinking pedophile who gets off on sexually abusing underage girls and boys, why not record my fellow wealthy stinking pedophiles and use that to my advantage? It's a Win/Win!"
The thriller I'm writing right now isn't about this specifically (it uses the Russo-Ukrainian War as background, along with the abuses of DHS), but a possible sequel that's bubbling around in my brain is about a White Christian Nationalist group that uses racist protests against human trafficking (like that THE SOUND OF FREEDOM movie Jim Caviezel starred in?) as a cover for its own human trafficking operations.
Well, I'm serializing it on my Substack, and I think I'm going to make it free so I get feedback on how I'm doing....
If you mean the sequel? It's still bubbling around in my head—I had originally considered Caviezel as one of the heroes...until THE SOUND OF FREEDOM, when I went, "Nahhh!"
Yes, that I already knew about Ballard! Let me just say I was...not surprised to hear it in the slightest.
I used to live in Syracuse, NY, which is where one of the founders of the Far Right anti-choice outfit "Operation Rescue", Anna Marie Buerkle, lived and was our Congressmonster for a time. (I think she's working for Trump now.) For a while there was a billboard near our home about human sexual trafficking which had a Black Man's hand holding a White Teenage Girl captive, and the racism and utter hypocrisy of it, knowing already how often White kids are sexually assaulted not by Scary Dark-Skinned Strangers by their parents, relatives, clergy, scoutmasters, neighbors, etc., just pissed me off...and got me thinking about White Christian Male Rapists projecting themselves onto others....
I was reminded of the wonderful animated television show "Gravity Falls", which indeed has the conflict between conspiracy and reality at its heart, with an emphasis on the supernatural. You are never led to believe on that program that things are exactly what they seem, because they are not.
As Hannah Arendt said, evil is banal.

Any talk of where Epstein came from?
I know excessive wealth makes people struggle to feel safe again, so they look for control. (kids -- most easy to control.)
it's not an especial mystery. our culture is broadly tolerant of abusing children. rich people just have more opportunity.

Conspiracy theories are definitely more satisfying- it’s hard to wrap my mind around just how awful people can be with no real reason to be that way.
