I was going to mention defaults—but not only did you get there right after I thought that, you did some great further interpretation with the concept. Good stuff!

It's interesting to think about whiteness for sure. Years ago, I was listening to a black speaker who asked how many white people have black friends? I had a couple when I was young that I occasionally hung out with, but as an adult I had none. I finally met a beautiful black woman on a flight from Miami about 8 or 9 years ago and we chatted for a couple of hours, exchanged info, and still chat to this day, via long distance. When I think of whiteness I think of lack of excitement, lack of spice in life, somewhat boring. Hubby used to tell me that I think I'm Mexican, lol.
