It's interesting to think about whiteness for sure. Years ago, I was listening to a black speaker who asked how many white people have black friends? I had a couple when I was young that I occasionally hung out with, but as an adult I had none. I finally met a beautiful black woman on a flight from Miami about 8 or 9 years ago and we chatted for a couple of hours, exchanged info, and still chat to this day, via long distance. When I think of whiteness I think of lack of excitement, lack of spice in life, somewhat boring. Hubby used to tell me that I think I'm Mexican, lol.
That's kind of the point—that White People Are Bland, and thus don't represent anything other than "I'm the Zero-Sum of America."
It's like how MST3K pokes fun at White "teens" (usually ten-twenty years older than their stated age!) in late Fifties/early Sixties movies dancing and partying—"We're White!/And to the Right!"

I saw the woman on the cluttered couch as a shopper- so many shopping bags and shipping boxes.
