The last almost 10 years with the constant always there every single day-edness of Trump is just sickening. I just keep rooting for cholesterol.

Terrifying.

Fascists think being a rebel is still cool, as long as you’re a groupthink reactionary ass. They don’t get it. Never will.

What gets me is how COWARDLY the Republican Party has become. I would swear there was a time, and not that long ago, that anybody even remotely like Donald Trump would've been shown the door by the Republicans long before he got to this point.

Okay, I've read David Corn's AMERICAN PSYCHOSIS, and I know there's always been a streak of "Let's not make waves with the Cray-Cray wing of the Party!" among "reasonable Republicans". But ever since Reagan won in 1980 the Republicans have been driving out all their ameliorating voices in some insane form of Evangelical Christian Talibanism that is as fanatical as it is moronic.

Remember when they used to say that Democrats had heart but no brains, and Republicans had brains but no heart? Those were the days, eh...? (https://youtu.be/y3KEhWTnWvE )

it's white backlash and white supremacist radicalization, I think, and an increasing fear that the party is doomed demographically if it plays by the rules of democracy.

::an increasing fear that the party is doomed demographically if it plays by the rules of democracy.::

Then why don't they change so they can win in a fair fight, like they did during the Cold War, or the Democrats did during The Great Depression? Why all this doubling down on the worst aspects of the Bigoted White *Lumpenproletariat*? It no longer feels like the Country Club Republicans are using the low-class (in every sense of the term!) ex-Dixiecrats Nixon gifted the Party with, but more like the Alt-Right nutbars are driving the Party off a cliff.

I don't ask for miracles like them not playing dirty pool to win, because...that's been a part of American politics since it started! But taking the tack that a "dirty win" is still a win is what gave us Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump. No wonder Obama looks like a candidate for sainthood by comparison, rather than like an extremely well-spoken and charismatic young politico.

At least Obama knew well enough to keep whatever shady dealings he might or might not have engaged in WELL out of sight....

Obama didn't engage in shady dealings. biden doesn't either. they're both quite uncorrupt, whatever their other failings.

The republican platform is white supremacy. if they change that, they aren't themselves. a core tenet of white supremacy is that white rule is preferable to democracy. thus the civil war.

I figured that about Obama, but wanted to cover my bases in case I was wrong. As for Biden?

He gave us the National Three Strikes law and eliminated bankruptcy as a way to get out from under student loan debt, so I am SURE he has sticky fingers! But next to Trump, anybody this side of a Russian Oligarch looks upright and honest....

pretty sure it's not about sticky fingers but about what corporations in delaware want.

I mean, that policy is shit and he should totally be held responsible for it, but I don't think it's because he's getting payoffs. His worst policy was probably fighting for segregation re busing, and that was for votes not money.
