Michigan, my home state, will not be going for Trump this year. Trump's pro-union posturing fooled maybe 3 dudes. Turnout in Wayne County (Detroit) will be high with Harris as the nominee. Dems appear to be preparing for shenanigans too, like in Wayne County.

My only concern is one about the white suburban vote. My hope is that pro-choice issues drive it, but the Oxford school shooting aftermath might remain an issue. I'm talking about charging and convicting the Crumbleys - that is not sitting well with many people. There was an excellent piece in the WaPo centered on the prosecution and how it was not quite unanimous in charging the parents. Lots of people see it as overreach by the Dems.

For context, one of my closest friend’s children went to (and one still goes to) Oxford High, and his cousin was one of the victims. This friend is an Independent, and he was concerned about charging the parents and the precedent it set. In his thinking, this sets the stage for government dictating what constitutes appropriate parenting. He sees it as a power that could be used inappropriately in the future, and he is not exactly wrong.

So love it or hate it, that is a Michigan issue.
