Hello all! The sale went better yesterday, but I could still really use some of you all to come aboard if I am going to keep posting through the month to come. The sale is 40% off, $30/year. You keep me scribbling and keep the kitties stuffed with treats. I don’t like to beg, but alas that is the fate of the freelance writer in our current time of precarity and general misery. So, please if you find my writing valuable/interesting/worthwhile, consider becoming a subscriber.
And here’s what I published this week!

The Last Time
The last time I saw my parents
was not the last time I’ll see my parents,
probably.
But it’s coming,
slowly across a shorter distance
like walking my mom down the walk
with her cane and her new knee
out to the big, twisted tree.
“There’s a lotus flower there,” Mom said,
“in the crook of the tree.”
It blooms once a year, but I missed it. She laughed,
because what can you do,
and we walked back up the walk.
Maybe I’ll see it next time.
Perfect poem. (Five Fleas)
The Ideal Mitten
I would rather much be
in the middle of
a greater in
the middle of
with a prescription and
a lozenge and
a very good dog.
