A Better Sadness
Imagine a billionaire.
He is sad.
So he drowns the world in something disgusting.
Mayonnaise jello, maybe.
Or antisemitism.
It doesn’t matter.
The point is that he does it because he is sad.
And if he were not sad
he would maybe not be a billionaire.
That’s the poetry of it.
And while you choke on lead paint
or misogyny
remember that at least you’re not sad
like billionaires. Your sadness
produces nothing and has no narrative value.
Take comfort.
Enough! (Five Fleas)
I have had enough
of insomnia, snoring, and death.
