Substack isn’t letting me like posts today. I must have pissed off the wrong person./s
I’m really concerned that Trump’s people have a plan to steal the election and that’s why he’s not campaigning. I want to believe that our team has a plan in place for this. Trump is a blathering idiot at this point- it’s laughable that people take him seriously and even look up to him. I mean he’s always been a blathering idiot, but it seems worse now. I wish Biden would tell him to fuck off.
The Substack app is really glitchy on mobile devices. Sometimes, like just now, I had to get an email to sign into my account so that I could reply. I have deleted the app and re-downloaded it, but it still doesn’t have correct info on who I am subscribed to. 🤷♀️
I like himpathy, and would add himtitlement. I occasionally run into that even on Substack--mansplainers to try to tell poor little tradwife me what the law says. No wait--I became a lawyer in 1982 and even post-retirement have kept up.
Global warming is arising primarily from Trump’s mouth. I’m sick and tired by how much free, uncritical space is being afforded his blather by legacy media. Please spare us!
But don’t allow the Republicans to locally decertify the election!
Your points about entitlement and himpathy are well taken but they give Trump too much credit for having a functional prefrontal lobe capable of formulating and carrying out complex actions. His cognitive decline over the past ten years has left him with just the ability to hold a few confused “facts” in mind at any one time. In an attempt to fill in the gaps in his memory and knowledge base, he throws them out without considering their implications. He is rarely challenged and reacts angrily when he is. Having concluded that no one would leave the race willingly, since he wouldn’t, he has constructed a fan-fic version of Biden’s departure. It’s a threat because it makes his winning unlikely and it doesn’t fit his constructed reality. Those of us who have cared for dementia patients know this behavior well. It’s remarkable that the media and “experts” who conflated Biden’s temporary debate confusion with dementia, which is chronic, are so resistant to characterizing Trump’s progressive cognitive decline in appropriate terms. Enabling a clearly impaired person is dangerous for him and the country.
I don't think trump is in cognitive decline; he always acts like this.
and fwiw, I don't think there's any great planning or intelligence needed here. Entitlement and himpathy are both very strong cultural defaults; people understand them in ways that feel instinctual or natural. The fact that trump deploys them when it's completely inappropriate (as with Biden) suggests he's not really thinking it through; this is just who he is.
Beg to differ on the cognitive decline. My mom had Alzheimer's. I'm seeing too many similarities. Just my two cents, other words, as always, great reading.
he's just kind of always been like this. he lies constantly, and I don't think he's ever really been too concerned about separating lies from truth even for himself.

They definitely have plans to try to steal the election. I think trumps not campaigning because he doesn’t feel like it.

well, I don't think he really helps himself with press conferences like the one yesterday.

I pray NOT!
